Island-style Breakfast in Ala Moana
Breakfast at Tangö Café in Honolulu’s Ala Moana neighborhood is a great place to kick back after a week of stuffy business meetings on the Island. The Scandinavian-fusion restaurant is a favorite among locals, so make sure if you’re dining on the weekend to show up early or get a reservation.
Unlike breakfast spots at the larger hotels, you’ll get the authentic island experience here. The restaurant is small enough that you can see everyone in the dining room. Expect the typical laid-back Hawaiian atmosphere with a bit of regional fare. This place really does eggs well. The restaurant serves great omelets filled with sweet Portuguese sausage, and benedicts that are piled high with big chunks of blue crab claw meat or cold smoked salmon. Make sure to try the French toast. It’s made from a sweet bread that is popular in this region. It’s really rich, but worth the indulgence.
Menu Highlights: Lion’s Diamond Head Blend Coffee, Chef Göran’s Select Yogurt, Crab Hash Benedict, and Sweet Bread French Toast.
