Comforting Italian Fare in Scottsdale
This is the kind of place that you want to take leftovers home from, just to make the experience last a little longer.
The Scottsdale restaurant is run by a sweet international couple, Jill and Stuart Bailey, and they do a good job taking care of you. Their wine recommendations are spot on, and they’re great at suggesting new dishes.
You can get extremely authentic veal parmesan—which is so huge that you’ll need help to finish it—and every kind of pasta you can imagine. Don’t get too overwhelmed by all the choices. While snails may seem more typical of a Parisian bistro, their Lumache Alla Borguignonne are not to be missed as a starter. Each morsel feels so decadent, and its rich garlic flavor lingers for days after. Definitely get their cioppino, a generous medley of shellfish, calamari, and salmon dressed in a tomato broth.
For meeting friends or colleagues, come early and grab a drink at the bar. The luxe leather seats and warm mood lighting make it easy to loosen up after a long day. As their name might suggest, they have an outstanding wine list with a great selection of Super Tuscans. If choosing the right wine is too overwhelming, Stuart can always steer you toward the perfect glass of Cabernet and help you feel at home.
