Il Mulino

Old World Italian Dining

This Greenwich Village gem is where the city’s elite go to enjoy an old-fashioned Italian meal. Celebrities like Barack Obama and George Clooney have been spotted entering the restaurant’s discretely curtained doors.

There’s nothing showy about Il Mulino, except maybe the tuxedoed waiters. The seasoned staff excel at anticipating your every need, from refilling glasses of red wine to attentively clearing plates. You can be sure that your clients will be treated like royalty.

Tables in the dimly lit dining room are pretty close together and its space is furnished sparsely with votive candles. It’s the thoughtful touches in the service though, like complimentary parmesan and bruschetta, that keep us coming back.

Pace yourself throughout the meal because you will leave stuffed. If you still want an appetizer after the complimentary small plates, their garlicky Scampi Oreganata is a good size to share with the table. Generally their portions are huge. Anything with their spicy red sauce is an excellent choice.

Menu Highlights:
Vongole Casino, Scampi Oreganata, Vitello alla Parmigiana, and Gamberi Fra Diavolo.
